Underfloor heating and cooling with Europlus Fast: radiant comfort for residential buildings breaks new records

A large residential building site in Milan, near the San Siro district. The structure consists of a central body and a 22-storey tower, with a total of about 130 flats of varying sizes, from 70 to 100 square metres. For space heating and cooling, the Europlus Fast 30 flat-slab floor radiant system with 15 mm piping was chosen, supplemented with a small percentage of Leonardo 5.5 ceiling. Laying pitch 10. The entire floor surface was covered with 3 cm self-levelling screed to ensure less inertia and faster setting.
 

Europlus Fast is a special system because the flat plate is equipped with a Velcro surface sheath, while a spiral tape with micro hooks runs around the pipe and anchors perfectly to the panel without the need for clips or other tools.

In addition to thermal comfort, the client requested extra comfort, which we achieved by adding an acoustic mattress to dampen walking noise. The dual heating and cooling function makes it essential to integrate air treatment units for dehumidification.
 

In addition, since the bathrooms are very small and only a small amount of floor piping can be installed between the sanitary fixtures, integration with the Leonardo 5.5 radiant ceiling was planned in these rooms. Finally, a special manifold, the TF-AFC model with automatic flow control, was installed in the hallway... and this is another peculiarity of these flats.
 

In total we installed 12 square kilometres of flooring and 3 square kilometres of ceiling: a small record of comfort and energy saving, a significant advantage that is increasingly important in all our homes…
